People are talking... Dave and Teresa Grubbs, whose daughter suffered developmental difficulties as a result of a tumor removed when she was a toddler: ˇ°During her riding sessions she learns to follow instructions, sequencing, confidence, self-fulfillment, independence and satisfaction. Riding horses has helped her tremendously.ˇ± - Logan County Juvenile Court Judge Michael Brady: ˇ°I strongly support the juvenile program designed and implemented by the Discovery Riders, Inc. The project allows young people to find ways to express themselves, develop self-esteem and new attitudes through interacting with the horses and instructors. The bond the students form with the horses is just short of magical.ˇ± - Reports from Discovery Riders' instructors in the Juvenile Diversionary Program: ˇ°Once he became aware that we cared if he showed up and how things were going in his life, he really opened up and took responsibility for bigger tasks, volunteering with our therapeutic riding lessons.ˇ± ˇ°We make him think, not only about what we were doing, but also about the consequences or outcome of the situation.ˇ± ˇ°This boy reminds me of why we do this program. He developed into a responsible, caring young manˇ± |
